Engagement Session Posts
Jamie and Greg’s creative engagement photos were captured in downtown Boulder on a warm summer afternoon. Well, technically this couple was already married! But this alluring Couple’s Portrait Session is too good to leave off of the website! The day began with happy hour at Conner O’neill’s, which is a great way to loosen up and relax! Urban downtown photos followed, and this reflection shot of the Boulder Theater sign is a top favorite!
Chautauqua Park is the quintessential nature engagement portrait location in Boulder. In late summer the grassy field is tall and backlit in the afternoon. Of course the view of the Flatirons is usually centerpiece. This extended session then headed up Flagstaff Road for a view of the Continental Divide and sunset photos overlooking the Indian Peaks Wilderness and the Colorado Front Range mountains.
Cara and Jared were looking for some funky and hip engagement photos that stand out from the rest. This couple headed up into the hill with Steve to the quirky Boulder County mountain town of Ward, Colorado. Ward is filled with old vintage cars and odd buildings. These photos reflect the couple’s alternative style and desire for modern engagement photos.
Steve met Caitlin and Phil at Settler’s Park in Boulder for some classic nature portraits in the Boulder parks. After a short hike up Red Rocks Trail, they kicked some royal photo butt at Boulder’s mini version of Red Rocks Park. The rock formation is very similar, and offers stunning lighting and views if timed right at sunset. The final climb to the top of the rocks is not for the faint of heart, but well worth the effort!
Steve really enjoys the opportunity to travel to take Denver engagement photos, as it offers up a whole new city full of interesting locations. For Lauren and Rich’s session they met at the Denver Millennium Bridge, then headed down to Commons Park and River Front Park in the 15th and Platte area. There is a great blend of urban and nature settings and a cool stone sculpture in the middle of the park.
Steve is moderately famous for his winter engagement sessions in the snow! It takes a little planning, a flexible schedule, and a daring couple to go for a snowy engagement shoot. But the results can be amazing, since the snow just seems to make everything beautiful! Kara and Jacob headed up to the secret Boulder mountain location on a freezing cold day when the snow stuck to the trees and grass and created a truly magical setting.
Steves spend some time with his father in Tampa, Florida almost every winter. He shot Amber and Caleb’s beach engagement photos on one of these trips. Sometimes engagement shoots can also be shot the day before a destination wedding. Either way, shooting at the beach at sunset is a wonderful change of pace from the frigid snow portraits that we are used to in Colorado! I truly believe that variety is the spice of life!
Nicole and Eric’s engagement photos were taken during a casual downtown Boulder engagement shoot. We like to call it a “lifestyle engagement session” when we meet at a bar or restaurant first for happy hour and then head out downtown in search of cool locations for photos. No matter what you call it, it’s a great way to unwind and get to know your photographer and capture memories that feel natural and fun!
