Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest blog post! I pulled a difficult and radical maneuver, and escaped the gravitational pull of the Boulder Bubble for long enough to capture some Denver engagement photography with Kay and Eric. The pair will be married in July at Chautauqua Park in Boulder. We decided on a more urban location for their engagement photos to contrast the Colorado mountain and nature images which we will capture on their wedding day. We started out the evening under the swooping lines of the Denver Millennium Bridge which connects the Denver Highlands to the 15th and Platte area. I love shooting around here because there are so many location options. There are alleys and architectural structures, as well as parks and nature elements. Kay used to be a river rafting guide. I actually borrowed some of her gear for my recent trip where I rafted the Grand Canyon. This is definitely the first time I’ve worn a client’s pants! We actually planned to do some shots down at Cheesman Park, but when I arrived, I found that the Acropolis was closed for construction. This was a bit of a bummer, so we decided to change locations at the last minute. This is the beautiful part. When we picked the location, we weren’t even thinking about shooting down by the river. But it’s pretty awesome that we wound up taking photos in front of a river with a small rapid! In between images of my clients looking ridiculously cute, I sometimes like to throw in some humorous shot like giant symmetric floating head murals. My favorite part of this next image is the bokeh (blurred background) created by the purple budding trees. The magical light streaming in through the spring blossoms created the ideal setting for Kay’s one of a kind engagement ring. Kay and Eric finished off the evening with some dancing in front of the Denver skyline. We watched as a dramatic sunset illuminated storm clouds to the east in shades of orange and purple. Thanks for checking out another magicalicious Denver engagement portrait session!
