Welcome to my first wedding blog of 2010! We kick of this season with Kimberly and William’s wedding at the historic Hotel Boulderado in downtown Boulder. A photo set from this vintage setting would not be complete without classic shots of the red velvet upholstery and the yellow stained glass ceiling. Kim chose a fab bouquet by Boulder Blooms and a wicked dress from Boulder Bridal. Way to support local business!

This shot is for Bill. He really likes the box that the engagement ring came in, complete with it’s own light built into the box!

These are some dead sexy flip flops worthy of getting married in!

Anticipation. Your heart is beating faster. Butterflies in the stomach. It’s almost time. No turning back now.

The First Look! Kim and Bill celebrated their first moments seeing each other on the wedding day prior to the ceremony to enjoy the natural daylight available. The classic lines of the hotel were perfect for some classic posing.

And now a not so classic pose in the indoor landscape of the Hotel Boulderado.

The ceremony took place on the mezzanine landing overlooking the lobby. I know from past experience that the lighting is quite dim and yellow down there, and natural light shooting is difficult even with modern cameras. So I decided to light the ceremony with strobes, which is something that I almost never do. I love the results! I’ve taken this shot before, but I think that the extra lighting adds a wonderful sense of depth to the image.

Many wonderful moments and memories were captured, the formal photos were taken, dinner was consumed, and all kinds of weddingy stuff took place. But lets get down to the most important thing. Yes, I know. “How was the cake?”, you ask. Well, let me tell you, it was fabulous chocolaty espresso fantabulousness.

The DJ turned up the dance songs, and the wedding party took to the dance floor for a drop down dance party. A big dance circle formed, and one by one the guests showed off their moves. Eventually, the happy couple ran out of guests who were wiling to embarrass themselves in front of the camera, and there was a lull in the action. I hate to see a party die, so I took one for the team and jumped in there for some comic relief. Here at Steve Z Photography, we go the extra mile to make sure everyone has a rockin’ time! Ron was second shooting for me, and he pretty much nailed this one!
