Last weekend I was lucky enough to escape the snow in Boulder for a destination wedding at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida.  Rebecca, Todd and I first met over the holidays last year when we shot their engagement photos.  That photo shoot was a nice start, but it was nothing compared to the epic-ness of their wedding day!  Check out the venue, First Class all the way!

We started out the day with a generous helping of creative detail shots, because we all know how much I love those! But after an hour of arranging inanimate objects it was on to people, people, people! We shot a few bridal portraits then to the First Site. The Ceremony was set to go down at sunset, so we needed to have the couple see each other earlier in the day so we could shoot some fun portraits while there was still available light.

After the happy couple met and exchanged some smoochie boochies, it was on to my favorite part of the day, creative portraits with the couple. I usually try to mix up some traditional shots with some wacky ones . . . I like to show the unique ones on the blog!

This was my first wedding with my all new Nikon camera gear. It performed admirably . . . whew! I think my favorite new lens is the 14-24 zoom. I was able to take some cool wide shots. Like the next four for example.

The ceremony and reception sites were pretty over the top. The ceremony was right at sunset on a lawn that rolls right up to the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The reception was held in this enormous dome of a room called The Circle Room.

It was so hard deciding which images to pick to show on the blog. I wound up showing a lot of the scenic and composed photos because I thought they were visually striking. But don’t let that fool ya, there were more touching moments captured than you can shake a stick at!

Three days of shooting at the Sage Software Summit culminated with a fun show featuring performers from Cirque Du Soleil.  It was really a great change of pace for the audience as well as this photographer.  These talented acrobats balanced, twirled, flipped, and entertained.  This was a great test of the low light capabilities of my new Nikon equipment.  I’m really pleased with the results!

Long time no blog! Well, the wait is worth it, I promise… I’m about to bombard you will more posts than you can imagine. First up: Candice and Scott. We had a great snowy engagement shoot this spring up in Nederland (view their engagement photos here). Fast forward six month to sunny Boulder where they enjoyed a intimate brunch wedding at the Greenbriar Inn.

Candice and Scott were gifted with a beautiful early fall morning.  I guess I can’t hide that I’m behind on my blogging, look how green the tree is!

Here we have the Father of the Bride with the Groom. What characters! I love this shot!

If you ever want to get on my good side, then you should text message me that you and your husband love me, like Anna does.  You could probably get in good with a lot of other people in this manner as well.

We kicked things off at the St. Julian Hotel in lovely Boulder, Colorado.  I got yelled at for sitting of the floor in the lobby shooting this next photo.  I hope they know that they shouldn’t get in the way of art . . . I’ve already got another wedding booked there in 2009.  C’mon, can’t you see how good she looks?!?!

And just in case you thought this was going to be an arty black and white blog entry . . . oh ho no!  Bring on the color at the Koenig Alumni House on the University of Colorado campus.

I’m such a sap, sometimes when I’m shooting uber-close-up photos of my couples crying during the vows, I get sucked in.  This was one of those times.

I found out that the night before their engagement shoot, they got in a big old fight, and that’s why they were so stiff during it.  No such problems getting in the mood today!  Anna and Mike like the funky shots, so I went hog wild.

Did I mention that we had a ton of fun?  Seriously.  Anna and Mike like to party.

Well I could stay here all night and post more photos, but I’ve got more more more weddings to edit.  I’ll leave you with a sampling of silly and sweet, in that order.  Anna and Mike are so in love it’s silly, and unplanned butt grabs are indubitably sweet.  Steve Z out.
