This is the final installment of photos from the Shoot With Beckstead Workshop.  We went to Red Rocks park in Morrison.  The funny part about all of these photos is that most of them don’t even have any Red Rocks in them!

Red Rocks Park is most famous for the amphitheater where one can hear concerts all summer long. The venue has rows of seats built into the natural valley between giant pillars of stone. The seats themselves make for some really cool curving patterns.

OK I know that last image is a little sad for a bridal picture! It looks like she got left behind at the alter. Oh no, don’t worry, no real brides were jilted in the making of these images.

After the shoot was mostly wrapped up, I noticed this cool elevator in the museum part of the building. I thought it a cool place to get one more shot of a completely different nature.

Sporting The Dress In The Colorado Mountains

After not much ado, here are some images from the third model shoot from the Shoot With Beckstead Workshop.  Like before, we were working with composition while working in the midday sun without using any sort of additional lighting.

The sun was bright and beating down on us, which is the perfect opportunity to rock out the sun flare.

The great thing about shooting these model shoots was lots of time to play with composition. It’s a hoot making real people into miniature toy pretend people.

This shoot was done at Three Sisters Park up in Evergreen, Colorado. There is this awesome old barn right near the parking lot.

Pre-Fashion Show Model Portraits

Last week at the Boulder Theater Waylon Lewis of Elephant Journal fame hosted his Walk The Talk show at the Boulder Theater. Among various festivities, there was a fashion show. Clothes were provided by prAna and Rachel Z Art, and the extreme hair and makeup by Urban Pearl Salon.  I snapped some photos of the models before the fashion show out in the alley, when I was in a situation where i could control the light and background as I wanted. Pretty cool, huh?

On the technical side of things, I used my DIY Beauty Dish for this shoot.  I had it high and slightly camera right and mounted on a Nikon SB-800 Flash, with another unit illuminating the chain link fence backdrop.  I’ve gotten those RadioPoppers triggers pretty dialed in at this point, and I really like the control panel on the Nikon SB-900 Master Flash.  The Poppers allowed me to utilize high speed sync and stop down the ambient shade and still shoot at f/1.8.  These images are all straight out of the camera, only a little contrast was added
