Here are some recent photos from an awesome senior portrait photo shoot that Hannah and I had a couple weeks ago. Hannah goes to Centaurus High School is Lafayette but we held the session in downtown Boulder. We rocked out my usual mix of funky and cool urban shots with some solidly gorgeous nature shots. We got so many great images that it was hard for me to narrow them down for this blog post!

We started off in the downtown alleys near my office. I found a completely unusual shoot location! I doubt many people shoot yearbook portraits in front of a wall of used alternators! Fortunately, Hannah came prepared with the perfect alternative alternator outfit.

After the urban alley fun we headed over for some nature shots near Boulder Creek.

But even during the nature photos I can’t help but find ways to make things funky!

It seems like I’ve been blogging about shoots in Estes Park for about a month now . . . but this is the last one for a while I think! The day after one of my weddings I shot some senior portraits up on the hill in the middle of town. Darien actually attends high school in Lyons, but lives in Pinewood Springs which is halfway to Estes, so we chose that as a cool location to shoot at. Like most of my seniors, Darien was looking for something funky and different like shooting around junky old cars and buildings. Well let me tell you, rusty trucks and broken down shacks are pretty hard to come by around here! Let me know if you have any location ideas because I’m always looking for new ones. This location was great nonetheless, as there was this historic, wrecked old stone building with a view of the snow-capped Rocky Mountain National Park. At the bottom of the hill there was a nice field setting as well. Enjoy the photos.

These photos are going to look very similar to my last post because Margie and Ally teamed up and shot their photos at the same time! A double photo shoot with your friend is a great way to save a couple bucks and have some fun at the same time. A double-session can be a good way to make you feel at ease during your shoot. This way I can have your friend make fun of you while you are in front of the camera and thereby get a REAL smile and not one of the usual fake smiles that you give when your grandma is taking your picture! Anyway, enjoy the latest installment of the blog

I’m becoming known about town as the photographer to go to when you are looking for unique high school senior photos. My urban downtown shoots are becoming my most popular location. This is awesome for me, since we can meet in my studio at 13th and Walnut, and head out from there. There is still a little time to have photos submitted for the yearbook at some schools, so don’t delay. And if you are a junior, it’s never to early to start planning your shoot. In the meantime, check out Ally’s photos, she did fantastic!

The other cool thing about shooting downtown, is that we can get both urban shots and nature shots in the same photo shoot! I don’t limit outfit changes or locations.

Nick and I headed out to Cherry Creek North to shoot some creative and urban senior portraits. We were looking for something edgy and different than the standard ‘man on campus’ or ‘kid leaning on his car’ shots. So we headed out around the stores and alleys looking for rad locations. A good time was had by all, and here is what we came up with.

Here is a recent set of senior portraits shot in downtown Boulder. Devin came to me looking for some unique shots that are going to be different than everyone else’s. No problem! Fashionably artistic shots are my specialty! She was interested in a more urban setting than a typical Colorado nature shoot. So we headed out and cruised around the alleyways looking for backgrounds of awesomeness. Yeah, OK, I shot a couple tree shots too, just for insurance
We still have a few weeks left before pics are due for the yearbooks, so give me a call if you’ve been procrastinating getting your photos done!
