Olivia .:. Senior

I’m back with the full post of Olivia’s senior portrait shoot on The Hill at the University of Colorado in Boulder. We came, we saw, we shot mad photos. I previously posted this Sneak Peek image on the blog.

Alison and Dave .:. Wedding

Alison and Dave are no longer single. I have photographic evidence to prove it. Don’t try to go out on a date with either of them. They are madly in love. I have photographic proof of this as well. Check it out and see for yourself.

Our day started at the St. Julian Hotel, where Alison and her girls began getting ready. I love the swoopy lines of Alison’s awesome dress. I also love the swoopy lines in this shot of her shoes!

The ceremony was held on a gorgeous August day in Central Park in Boulder.

Aw. He’s just adorable. :-)

I have shot many portraits in Central Park, as it is only 1 block from my old office. Surprisingly, this was my first time shooting a wedding couple here.  I love shooting in the Bandshell. In addition to the great architectural lines, there is also great light reflecting off of the walls.

The wedding reception was held right across the street from the park at The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, AKA BMOCA. Honey from Seize the Day Event Planners had the upstairs gallery looking top notch.

Elsewhere in the museum, there were plenty of opportunities to take Steve Z trademark quirky photos!

What is more fun than a good old fashioned cake smash? I don’t get to photograph one very often, despite the fact that most of the guests are secretly hoping for a train wreck. Dave kept this train on the rails and chose not to smash back. Wise move Dave!

I’m going to finish things off with a funny and unpredictable moment. I’ve never seen a guy jump in and snag the bouquet before, but now I have! He was pretty slick about it, as I don’t think anyone saw it coming! He then strutted out onto the floor and spiked it to the ground like a football! I wasn’t exactly sure what the reaction of the crowd was going to be, but most people were laughing. Then, to top it off, the same guy also got the garter. The really good news, is that I will be photographing his wedding to himself in the near future!

As always, you can view all the photos from the event in the Client Area with the proper event code.

Alisha .:. Sneak Peek

A quick blog post on a Friday showing an image from Alisha’s senior portrait photo session. We got tons of great photos during normal daylight hours, and kept shooting and shooting until the sun went down. I like this photo since it’s a bit of a different style than the natural light photos that I’ve been shooting a lot of recently. Alisha is lit with my Kacey portable beauty dish with a grid attached.  More photos to come soon!

Brandon .:. Sneak Peek

Once in a while I get a specific request for a location for a senior portrait shoot. I was super stoked when I got a call from Brandon saying that he wanted to take shots wakeboarding on Boulder Reservoir. I was wicked stoked when I found out that he was going to wakesurf as well! The best part about wakesurfing is that it is close enough to the boat to light the subject with a strobe.  I was able to underexpose the dramatic cloudy sky and get this killer sport portrait.  There are more shots to come in the next week or two!

Teresa and Jacques .:. Wedding

Wedding season is here in full force in Colorado! My latest wedding blog is from high in the mountains of Eagle County on the Vail Wedding Deck.  Teresa and Jacques risked the elements and came out big winners with an absolutely perfect Mountain Destination Wedding!

We started off the day getting ready in Lionshead at the Vail Marriott with some details on the balcony and some window lit bridal portraits. Someone thought that her eyes look scary in the backlit shot, but I think she looks amazing!

This next shot is an interesting one because of the lighting. I took a photo of each groomsman being lit with the strobe, then combined them into a photo composite to get the look.

The clouds were amazing, and of course there was a field of wildflowers next to the ceremony site. I would have The Sound of Music stuck in my head if I knew how it went! ;-)

I previously posted a Sneak Peek image of Jacques singing his vows to Teresa on the guitar. So cool. He said he was super nervous, and I can only imagine!  It was truly amazing, with her veil blowing in the wind and an amazing view of the mountains.

Hands down, my favorite first kiss photo ever.

Throughout the day, I had a blast shooting tons of photos with these guys. Teresa knows how to throw down a mean Blue Steel look, so I thought it would be appropriate if we both busted out the first ever wedding photographer-bride-tandem-Magnum showdown. If you haven’t seen the movie Zoolander . . . well you should!

Finally, topping off a picture-perfect wedding day is a picture perfect wedding exit under a tunnel of sparklers! Love this shot, love you guys, thanks for the laughs.

Here we are with another photo set from a ridiculously cute Boulder family! I visited with the Jaffe family one fine Saturday morning at their home up in Gunbarrel.  We started off with some shots around the home then headed down to the park for a beach blanket party.  Thanks for a great shoot!
